An Iowa City Darwin Day talk by Asheley Landrum, Assistant Professor of Strategic Science Communication at Texas Tech University

Science denialism permeates society. Though adamant anti-vaxxers and resolute flat earthers may be small in number, many more people in the U.S. deny climate change and/or evolution (at least 50% and 33%, respectively). At the same time, most people across political parties and ideologies actually value science as a way of understanding the world. This talk describes how anti-science attitudes only exist in in very specific domains when the topics or findings appear to oppose people’s own worldviews and provides evidence that we all reject science when it's inconvenient.
