IoWA-PCIT: Translating attachment and behavioral research to improve community interventions for young children

This talk will discuss the development and dissemination of Integration of Working Models of Attachment into Parent-Child Interaction Therapy (IoWA-PCIT). IoWA-PCIT builds on research on attachment theory and  behavioral parent management training to reduce disruptive behavior in young children and improve their relationships with their caregivers. Dr. Troutman will discuss how her understanding of the role of attachment patterns and procedural memory in early relationships influences her approach to intervention and training community interventionists. Research on IoWA-PCIT and future research opportunities will be discussed.
